This is an economy class journey. It means the following.

Our Dwarka Darshan Yatra generally takes place across the states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat. Occasionally, Rajasthan is also included in this itinerary (only when the sacred places of Pushkar and Shrinathji are added).

Terrain :

Across all the regions we travel through in these states, there are no extremely high mountains. Most of the roads run over flat terrain. Only while traveling from Indore to Omkareshwar, there is a hilly stretch of about 20 to 25 kilometers. Even this is not a difficult or arduous route.

While traveling from Mumbai to Kolhapur and Pandharpur, one has to pass through the Sahyadri mountain ranges. However, since our yatras in this region are conducted by train, the journey is not exhausting at all.

Weather and Climate of Ujjain and Omkareshwar

Ujjain and Omkareshwar are located in the Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh, sharing very close geographical proximity and a similar climate throughout the year.

Here is the seasonal breakdown of the weather:

• Winter (November to February)
  • Temperature: 10°C – 27°C
  • Weather: This is the best and most pleasant time to visit. Days are pleasantly warm, while nights can get quite chilly.
• Summer (March to June)
  • Temperature: 25°C – 42°C
  • Weather: Hot and dry. During May and June, afternoon temperatures often cross 40°C, making daytime travel uncomfortable.
• Monsoon (July to October)
  • Temperature: 22°C – 30°C
  • Weather: Receives moderate to heavy rainfall. The entire region becomes lush and green during this season.

Key Local Variations & Accessibility Details:

• Omkareshwar: Surrounded by the Narmada River and hills, it offers beautiful scenic views in the monsoon and experiences slightly higher humidity in the summer.
• Omkareshwar Temple Accessibility:  The main Omkareshwar Temple is situated on a hill. Reaching the temple requires climbing approximately 55 to 75 steps. Additionally, reaching the banks of the Narmada River involves navigating roughly 100 steps up and down.
• Ujjain: Located on the banks of the Shipra River, the areas around the riverbanks experience cold morning fogs and cooler temperatures during winter mornings.

Weather and Climate of Matrugaya, Somnath, and Dwarka

All three of these prominent pilgrimage sites are located in Gujarat, and their weather details are as follows:

Matrugaya (Siddhpur – North Gujarat) : It is located in the inland plains of North Gujarat and features a dry, tropical climate.

• Winter (November to February)
  • Temperature: 12°C – 28°C
  • Weather: Extremely pleasant and comfortable. This is the best time to perform Matru Shraddha rituals and offer prayers at Bindu Sarovar.
• Summer (March to June):
  • Temperature: 26°C – 42°C+
  • Weather: Intensely hot and dry. Daytime outdoor movement can be very difficult during May and June.
• Monsoon (July to October):
  • Temperature: 24°C – 34°C
  • Weather: Receives moderate rainfall, accompanied by higher humidity levels.

Somnath (Saurashtra Coast – South Gujarat) :  Situated right on the Arabian Sea coast, Somnath experiences a coastal climate.

• Winter (November to February):
  • Temperature: 15°C – 29°C
  • Weather: Cool sea breezes and gentle sunshine make this the ideal time for pilgrimage and sightseeing.
• Summer (March to June):
  • Temperature: 24°C – 34°C
  • Weather: While temperatures remain lower than the inland regions, proximity to the sea results in high humidity and muggy conditions.
• Monsoon (July to October):
  • Temperature: 23°C – 31°C
  • Weather: Experiences moderate to heavy rainfall with rough sea waves and lush coastal scenery.

Dwarka (Western Saurashtra Coast) :  Dwarka is also situated on the Arabian Sea coast and experiences moderate to strong coastal weather throughout the year.

• Winter (November to February):
  • Temperature: 14°C – 28°C
  • Weather: Mornings and nights are pleasantly cool. Excellent time for visiting the Dwarkadhish Temple and exploring the coast.
• Summer (March to June):
  • Temperature: 25°C – 35°C
  • Weather: High humidity combined with sun exposure causes heavy sweating during the day.
• Monsoon (July to October):
  • Temperature: 24°C – 31°C
  • Weather: Expect windy conditions with moderate to heavy showers. Large crowds of devotees visit during Janmashtami (August/September).

Travel Tip: :  The ideal period to visit Dwaraka is from late October to early March.

Weather and Climate of Shrinathji (Nathdwara) and Pushkar

Here are the climate details for Shrinathji (Nathdwara) and Pushkar (near Ajmer), two famous pilgrimage destinations in Rajasthan:

Shrinathji / Nathdwara (Southern Rajasthan – Mewar Region) :  Nathdwara, home to the famous Shrinathji Temple, is situated amidst the Aravalli Hills in the Rajsamand district. Compared to other parts of Rajasthan, the weather here remains relatively pleasant.

• Winter (November to February):
  • Temperature: 9°C – 26°C
  • Weather: The best time for sightseeing and temple visits. Days feature pleasant sunshine, while nights can be quite cool to chilly.
• Summer (March to June):
  • Temperature: 25°C – 40°C
  • Weather: Characterized by hot and dry conditions. Since afternoon temperatures spike during May and June, early morning or evening temple visits are recommended.
• Monsoon (July to October):
  • Temperature: 22°C – 32°C
  • Weather: Receives moderate to good rainfall. The surrounding Aravalli hills turn lush green, bringing cool and refreshing air.

Pushkar (Central Rajasthan – Edge of the Thar Desert) :  Famous for the sacred Pushkar Lake and the rare Brahma Temple, Pushkar lies near the edge of the Thar Desert and experiences a dry, semi-arid desert climate.

• Winter (November to February):
  • Temperature: 8°C – 25°C
  • Weather: Extremely pleasant and comfortable. The world-renowned Pushkar Camel Fair takes place around early winter (October/November). Nights tend to get significantly cold.
• Summer (March to June):
  • Temperature: 28°C – 42°C+
  • Weather: Intensely hot with dry heat. Daytime travel can be uncomfortable due to hot afternoon winds (Loo).
• Monsoon (July to October):
  • Temperature: 24°C – 34°C
  • Weather: Experiences light to moderate rainfall. The climate around the lake turns pleasant after the showers.

Travel Tip: : The ideal time to visit both Shrinathji (Nathdwara) and Pushkar is during the winter months, from October to March.

Rivers and river bath.

The Narmada River is full of rocks and can be quite deep in certain stretches. Arrangements for bathing will be made only at spots that are considered safe. Nevertheless, pilgrims must exercise all necessary precautions while taking a dip. Safety and self-care during the holy bath remain the sole responsibility of the pilgrims.

Dwarka is the sacred confluence point where the Gomti River meets the sea. Bathing facilities are available here as well. Steps leading down to the river are equipped with iron railings, which should be held onto firmly while taking a dip. Pilgrims must strictly observe all safety precautions, and safety remains the individual responsibility of the pilgrims.

At Somnath, the Hiranya and Saraswati rivers meet the sea. Arrangements for bathing are provided here as well, and it is relatively safer compared to the Narmada in Omkareshwar and the Gomti in Dwarka. However, pilgrims must still exercise complete caution while taking a dip. The responsibility for one’s safety lies entirely with the person taking the holy bath.

Some precautionary measures :

If the yatra takes place during the summer season, pack light cotton clothing in your luggage for maximum comfort. Based on medical advice, you may use rehydration powders such as Electral. Tender coconut water is a good option to stay hydrated. If you wish to eat fruits, ensure they are whole fruits that you can slice and consume yourself.

For a winter journey, carry a woolen cap that properly covers your ears and a sweater. There is no need to bring a blanket or rug, as appropriate arrangements will be provided in the rooms.

Avoid consuming outside street food or unhygienic eateries during travel.

TRAIN

• • Train journey is planned with sufficient breaks where ever it is required.

• • Seats in trains are allotted by Indian Railways as per their rules. We do not give any guarantee of getting lower berths as it is not in any individuals control.

• • It is always better to book the seat well in advance to avail berths of your choice.

BUS

• • We hire 3rd party buses for our yatras. These coaches are equipped with 2×2 push back seats fixed on elevated body. Screens will be provided on every window. Chambers are provided in the lower portion of the bus for placing heavy luggage units.

• • Seats will be provided on a first-come first-serve basis. Requests for change in the seat(s) in any part of the journey are not entertained. Mutual exchange of seat with other passengers may be done solely on each other’s responsibility.

• • Overhead space should be shared equally by every Yatri. Yatris should use the space only concerned to their seats. Handbags and essential materials can be placed on the overhead cupboard. Bigger bags are to be placed in the luggage compartment of the respective bus.

Since this is only a 12-day tour, excessive baggage would not be required. As luggage compartments are provided in the bus, there will be no luggage porterage vehicle arranged. So, bring only as much as you can port on your own.

• Do not bring heavy suit cases. Bring trolley bags. Trolley bags are easy to shift from place to place.
• While loading the luggage to the bus, duffel / air bags are placed first. Suitcases are placed in the last. Huge suitcases are placed on the top of bus. Suit cases placed on the top of the bus are secured with tarpaulin rope.
• All luggage will be placed in the luggage compartment at the bottom of the bus and on the carrier on top of the bus. All items will be secured properly. However, Vasudeva Yatra will not be responsible for any damage caused by rain, sun, dust, or any other reasons beyond our control.

Please note, for various reasons we do not provide luggage shipping service. However, we can arrange for the following on request at actual cost.

• Porters at railway stations
• Luggage shipping from Room to Bus and vice versa

We provide economy class rooms. These are simple rooms with clean bed, bedsheet and attached wash rooms. Superior quality rooms are available on extra payment. They are subject to availability. Yatris who want superior rooms are requested to inform us well in advance.

• We book rooms in the proximity of various dharmashalas during our yatra. Yatris are provided with simple, neat and comfortable rooms with necessary amenities. However, considering the duration of the stay, we accommodate yatris in neat and decent common stay at some places.
• Standard room check in time is 12:00 noon everywhere. But at many places our train reach before this check in time. At such times, yatris are requested wait till the rooms are allotted.
• Dharmashalas provide rooms in various floors depending up on the rush. We put our efforts to get rooms at a comfortable reach; however, we may not get all the rooms on the same floor. In such cases, ground floor rooms are allotted as under

  • First priority will be given to elderly yatris
  • If all yatris are elders, then rooms will be allotted according to the booking order of yatra seats.
  • Yatris are requested not to put pressure on the Guide for selective rooms.

We have our own kitchen team. We provide only satvik meals during yatra. No hotel-baked food is served for yatris. We do not use onion or garlic in the food. In the afternoon, teertha prasada will be served after devara pooja is done.

Generally, food will be served at regular timings, but this timing may vary during long journey.

Fuel used for cooking is LPG. Firewood is used only for Shraadhanna.

Fuel used for cooking:

• All are requested to adhere to the tradition of Vedic meals system.
• Observe madi & mailige properly because there are several orthodox couples travelling with us. Let us ensure mutual comfort.
• A separate batch will be made for Madi Pankti. Others are requested to cooperate at such times.
• We request men not to wear shirt, color lungis or Bermuda shorts when lunch/dinner is served. Wear clean white attire.
• Do not throw tea/coffee cups in any open areas. Drop them in the garbage bag only.
• At some places we may provide teertha prasada at Rayara Matha / Pejavara Matha. All are requested to adhere to the rules instituted by those respective organisations.

For pilgrims performing Kshetra Vidhi, arrangements for the same will be made at

Time maintenance plays vital role in a successful yatra. Yatris are requested to pay attention to the schedule fixed by the Chief Guide. Ask him directly if you have any concerns to be attended.

Caution : Delays would cause inconvenience to fellow travelers. Besides, it could also adversely affect the rest of the schedule. Thus, the vehicle will not wait at any places beyond 15 minutes of scheduled departure. It will proceed towards next place without giving any extra caution. Yatris are requested to note this and abide accordingly.

• Do not leave the group without giving any notice to the Chief Guide.
• Do not get down from the bus unless it is a stop for the rest room usage.
• Don’t get scattered immediately after alighting from the bus. Listen to what your guide says.
• Do not leave the group on your own. Every yatri should maintain a close distance with the team.
• Board the bus at all the places at correct time. Delay in reporting time at yatra places is not entertained. Yatra will wait only for 10 mins of scheduled departures.
• Be responsible while using the toilets and washrooms at public places.
• Be cooperative by adhering to the time schedule devised by the Chief Guide.
• Be cordial to fellow pilgrims and enjoy the pilgrimage.
• vasudevayatra.in is not responsible for yatris’ personal differences or disputes.
• Do not bring hefty suitcases. Make individual bags so that the weight is shared by individuals.
• Do not carry any valuables on this tour. vasudevayatra.in does not take responsibility for your belongings.
• During darshana, there could be larger crowds at some places. Darshana will be as per the regular temple system in place.
• Desirous pilgrims may have special quick darshana by availing such tickets at their own cost.
• vasudevayatra.in holds authority to make modest changes in the schedule if and when required. Yatris are requested to cooperate if encountered by such an eventuality.
• Any illegal activity is liable for punishment by the local laws.
• The yatra manager holds the rights to deboard any yatri who does not follow yatra harmony.

• Seats are booked against payment of 50% of the yatra fees in advance. Remaining amount may be paid in 2 instalments.
• Once you are done with reading these terms and conditions, you can use our reservation form to reserve your seats.
• The reservation form provides for multiple reservations to be made by a yatri. We deem that all bookings made by a yaatri on behalf of their accompanying kith and kin have also read the terms and conditions of this yatra and give their consent to the same.

Since there are many third-party services involved in this package, there is no 100% cancellation available for this yatra. However, seats may be transferred to others on your own discretion. Such substitute yatris should submit their details through yatra reservation form. Also, they should arrange for their train/air tickets on their own effort.

1. Refund when a yatri cancels the ticket

• If the booking is cancelled within the stipulated date, a fixed fee will be refunded as per the dates of cancellation. Please refer to the Dwaraka Darshan / Sri Krishna Darshana yatra page to know your Cancellation Cut off dates.
• If the pilgrim cancels or curtails the journey midway for any reason after the Yatra (journey) has commenced, no refund will be provided.
• If the pilgrim changes the mode of transport during the Yatra at any time (e.g., from bus to train, train to bus, train to flight, bus to flight), no refund will be provided.

2. What if yatra cancelled due to situations beyond our control?

• If the Railway Department cancels the train for any reason at any stage of the journey, we will try our best to make an alternative arrangement for the next leg of the journey. But if this is not possible practically, then we may have to cancel the yatra. In such case we cannot refund yatra fees.

• If the train we are traveling is running late or reaches the destination late or if we are unable to catch next booked train, we will try to make alternative arrangements. If this is not possible, further journeys may have to be cancelled. At such cases Yatra fee is not refundable.

• No refunds are made if yatra is cancelled due to wars or bandhs or strikes or riots or natural calamities and any situation which is beyond our control.

3. Refunds when yatra is cancelled by Vasudevayatra.in

• Yatra may be cancelled by vasudevayatra.in when the requirement of minimum number of yatris is not met. Such cancellation will be informed to booked yatris well in advance and 100% refunds are made.

You agree to assume risks connected with the journey and agree to accept the terms and conditions of this yatra as described in this document. vasudevayatra.in is not responsible for any physical and mental damages or illness or loss of life caused by accidents, unpredictable circumstances like bandh, hartal, rasta roko, train or flight delay, all sorts of pandemic, all sorts of natural hazards and aspects beyond our control. You agree not to hold vasudevayatra.in, its agents and staff responsible for the above-mentioned factors.

Vasudevayatra.in puts honest efforts in extending its cooperation on humanitarian basis during any mishaps; however, neither financial nor medical responsibility against such incidents are taken. Yatris should handle such cases on their own cost.

Vasudevayatra.in can make changes in yatra schedule during inevitable circumstances.

Special Note: Yatra may halt for safety reasons during bad weather conditions. At such times, yatris will have to bear extra expenditure for boarding and lodging for those effective days and applicable charges for return journey.

Barring your personal contact number, all other details furnished by you (emergency contact number, aadhaar number, email id and postal address ) will be deleted after the tour. We do not share any of the numbers with any third parties. If you wish, we will send details of all our future tours to your personal contact number. However, if you are uncomfortable with this, you may decline to avail such information.
