8. Terrain, climate details and some precautionary tips

Most of our Dwaraka darshana Yatra will be in the western and coastal regions of Gujarat. Major parts of these regions are plain lands with arid winds. The intensity of sunlight would be high and so would be the heat as this is a coastal area. Somanath and Dwaraka are about 450-500 km away from the state’s capital. Hence, a long journey needs to be made to reach these places from the cities of Baroda and Ahmedabad.

Matrugaya is about 120 km to the north of Ahmedabad. Reaching this place would not be much difficult. The roads are level throughout and the need to climb hills does not arise anywhere.

Bet Dwaraka is a small island about 40 km away from Dwaraka. A 15-minute boat ride over the sea is required when this temple has to be reached.

Ujjain and Omkareshwar are in the southern part of Madhya Pradesh. Even these are places of intense sunlight.

Omkareshwar is situated on a mountain. Much effort isn’t required to climb to this place. However, in order to bathe in the Narmada river, one has to climb up and down about a hundred stairs.

Usually it is seen that the weather in Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat is convenient for travel during the month of November. However, extreme weather conditions might turnabout our words of experience, bringing rains or intense sunlight during our yatra.

Sometimes a long journey might be needed during a yatra for the purpose of convenience, benefit and avoiding unnecessary burden on the pilgrims. Although it might not be pleasurable to travel for long hours, we request yatris to cooperate in this regard.

Note. All these changes or problems won't last long. Not everyone is likely to face all these conditions. But it can be taxing if caution is not exercised. Those with prior heart conditions must be extremely careful. Doing so would enable you to have a trouble free and immersive experience throughout the yatra.

Those who bathe in the rivers should follow all cautionary measures. The responsibility for their protection lies with themselves. vasudevayatra.in is not responsible for any mishaps.

9. Seat allotment in the train & bus

Train journey is planned with sufficient breaks where ever it is required. Seats in trains are allotted by Indian Railways as per their rules. It is always better to book the seat well in advance to avail berths of your choice. We do not give any guarantee of getting lower berths as it is not in any individuals control.

We hire 3rd party buses for this yatra. These coaches are equipped with 2x2 push back seats fixed on elevated body. Screens will be provided on every window. Chambers are provided in the lower portion of the bus for placing heavy luggage units.

Seats will be provided on a first-come first-serve basis. Requests for change in the seat(s) in any part of the journey are not entertained. Mutual exchange of seat with other passengers may be done solely on each other’s responsibility.

Caution: Since this is only a 14-day tour, excessive baggage would not be required. As luggage compartments are provided in the bus, there will be no luggage porterage vehicle arranged. Paid porting service from the room to bus is available at the rate of Rs. 50  per day. So, bring only as much as you can port on your own.

  • Overhead space should be shared equally by every Yatri. Yatris should use the space only concerned to their seats. Handbags and essential materials can be placed on the overhead cupboard. Bigger bags are to be placed in the luggage compartment of the respective bus.

10. Allocation of Rooms

We book rooms in the proximity of various dharmashalas during our yatra. Yatris are provided with simple, neat and comfortable rooms with necessary amenities. However, considering the duration of the stay, we accommodate yatris in neat and decent common stay at some places.

Special Note: Dharmashalas provide rooms in various floors depending up on the rush. We put our efforts to get rooms at a comfortable reach; however, we may not get all the rooms on the same floor. In such cases, ground floor rooms are allotted as under

  • First priority will be given to elderly yatris
  • If all yatris are elders, then rooms will be allotted according to the booking order of yatra seats.
  • Yatris are requested not to put pressure on the Guide for selective rooms.
  • At many places Check in is allowed only after 10:00 AM. But due to railway timings we reach to many places before 8:00 AM. At such times yatris are to cooperate with us till the rooms are allotted.  As an option yatris may take bath at available amenities and procced for Darshana. This can save a good amount of time in taking Darshana.
11. Meals
