Items to be carried during Kashi Yatra

For many, undertaking the Kashi Yatra for the first time can lead to confusion about what to pack. This article aims to resolve those doubts. Read it slowly and follow the advice to make your journey smooth.

Please Note: Due to various reasons, there is no separate luggage transportation system. Please bring limited luggage.

Mandatory items

  • Three or four full-size copies of your Aadhaar card.
  • A dining plate and a water glass.
  • A thermos flask for hot water.
  • Your essential medications.
  • One handbag (large enough to hold one set of clothes + your dining plate).

In some places, you won’t need to take out your entire luggage from the bus. In such situations, keep your toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, one set of clothes, and your plate and glass for meals in this handbag. This way, you won’t need to carry your suitcase every time. (See image)

Items for those performing shraddha

  • Sandhyavandana utensils.
  • A small copper or brass plate. (See Image)
  • A list of your ancestors’ names.
  • 50 – 75 one-rupee coins.

Items for Veni Dana

During Veni Dana, items like Bagina, turmeric and kumkum, betel leaves, flowers, etc., will be arranged by our organization. Pilgrims do not need to bring these separately. However, if you wish to donate more, you may bring the following items:

  • Sarees
  • Panche (9 yards)
  • Madi Panchae (7 yards)
  • Bagina

Optional, but very useful items

  • A 15-meter long nylon rope (for drying clothes) (See image).
  • 20-25 safety pins (to secure clothes while drying) (See image).
  • Sanitizer
  • Face Mask

You don’t need to bring clothes for all twelve days just because it’s a 12-day journey. Bringing clothes for 7 days is enough. This is because on our journey, at places like Chitrakoot, Prayag, Ayodhya, Gaya, and Kashi, you will have time to wash and dry your clothes. In such situations, you can use the nylon rope to dry your wet clothes. Safety pins can be used to secure the clothes you’ve hung to dry. Clothes clips take up more space in your bag, whereas safety pins take up less space and are easy to carry. A 12-day luggage load will definitely be a burden.

Items not to be carried

  • Jewelry
  • Expensive items
  • Unnecessary cash
  • Bedding, blankets, mats
  • Sesame seeds (Ellu), Gopichandana, Janivara

Warm Clothing

  • One thick shawl is sufficient. Nothing else is needed.

Bring warm clothes like sweaters and monkey caps only if you are traveling between the months of November and January. They are not necessary at any other time. We provide rooms for overnight stays. These rooms will have cots, pillows, and blankets. If you are traveling in AC class on the train, blankets will be provided on the train itself.
